ABOUT MICHAEL
PUBLIC SERVICE - FINANCIAL EXPERTISE
Michael Schostak is the Bloomfield Township Treasurer. First elected to the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees in November 2016, he was re-elected in 2020 and 2024. As the township’s Chief Investment Officer, he manages more than $460 million in public funds and oversees all bonds issued by the township. In his role as a township officer, he helps run government services for a community of roughly 44,000 residents, businesses, and schools across 26 square miles.
Michael also serves on the board of the Bloomfield Historical Society and chairs the Township’s Bicentennial Committee, which is planning the township’s 200th anniversary.
From 2022 to 2023 he served as Administrative Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party, and he has been Treasurer of the 9th District Republican Committee.
Before his current public roles, Michael was managing member of Schostak Capital Advisors, advising small and mid-sized businesses on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. He was a Lecturer of Finance at Wayne State University’s Ilitch School of Business, teaching financial modeling, analysis, and corporate valuation.
His professional experience spans roles from Wall Street to Main Street, in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, corporate financial planning and analysis, and investor relations. He began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton, consulting for the U.S. military and intelligence communities on economic policy, financial analysis, resource planning, and capital budgeting.
Michael holds a B.S. in Economics (concentrations in finance, management, and real estate) from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He previously held a Series 7 securities license and a Top Secret defense security clearance.
Michael also earned a Certificate from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government for “Senior Executives in State & Local Government” in July 2025. He was the recipient of the Taubman Fellowship awarded by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).
