ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael Schostak is the Bloomfield Township Treasurer. He was first elected to the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees in November 2016 and re-elected in November 2020 and 2024. He is currently a member of the Design Review Board, the Financial Sustainability Committee, and chairman of the Retired Employees Healthcare Benefits Trust. Michael is also chair of the Township’s Bicentennial Committee, planning for the 200th birthday of the Township.
Michael also serves the community on the board of the Bloomfield Historical Society and the Community Participation Committee of the Bloomfield Hills School District.
Michael served as the Administrative Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party in 2021-2022. He was also Treasurer of the 9th District Republican Committee.
Michael was managing member of Schostak Capital Advisors, working with small and medium-sized businesses around the country in the areas of business strategy, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate finance.
Michael is formerly a Lecturer of Finance in the Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, where he taught courses in financial modeling & analysis and corporate valuation.
Michael’s prior professional experience spans a wide variety of financial roles from Wall Street to Main Street, including capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, corporate financial planning & analysis, and investor relations. Michael began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton consulting for the U.S. military and intelligence communities on matters of economic policy, financial analysis, resource planning, and capital budgeting.
Michael earned his B.S. in Economics (with concentrations in finance, management, and real estate) from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his M.B.A. from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Michael previously held a Series 7 securities license and a Top Secret defense security clearance.
Michael also earned a Certificate from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government for “Senior Executives in State & Local Government” in July 2025. He was the recipient of the Taubman Fellowship awarded by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).
